About Us

Off the Page was founded in 2013 by Hilary Moore, Pat Hayes and Mike Hayes. We have grown to a still small troupe of six Sonoma County actor/directors. For some shows we invite guest actors to perform with us as well.

We specialize in performing the works of local authors. By now we've performed the works of more than 50 writers. Twice a year we choose a theme and call for entries. For each show we create a "symphony" of  stories, plays and poems. Our regular season is late January through late June. Some years we add a special show in the Spring. In 2019 we collaborated with Redwood Writers to present Six Winning Plays. This year we collaborated with Redwood Writers to present Six Winning Plays. In 2018 we performed Iris Jamahl Dunkle's book, Interrupted Geographies.

We're portable --but  our regular home venues are Copperfield's Books in Santa Rosa, Abacus in Sebastopol, and Church of the Oaks in Cotati.  A percentage of our proceeds goes to local charities.

Our current troupe: Hilary Moore, Mike Hayes, Jeff Savage, Spencer Sherman, Kathleen Haynie, RW Hessler and Beth Moise. Patrick Michael McCarty opens our shows with his charming MC-ing and songs.  We are pleased to have two guest actors/directors joining us for our Winter 2020 show: Beth Moise is currently a guest performer

.

Our beloved founding member, actor-director and soul sister Pat Hayes passed from this realm in March, 2019. We miss her so!

Jeff Savage

The theater feels like home to Jeff. He literally grew up onstage; as a child he spent many years at a professional theater arts school in Michigan. He is an award winning public speaker and seasoned improvisational actor, performing in past years with Sebastopol's Inside Out improv troupe. Jeff has performed regularly with Off the Page Readers Theater for many seasons

Kathleen Haynie

entered the theater world when she performed in several productions of the Petaluma Vagina Monologues. There she discovered joy through the experience of shared emotional intimacy with the audience. She has been following that joy ever since.  She wrote and performed monologues in local productions of "Evolution of a Woman" and  "Powerful Voices Within." She continues her acting studies at 6th Street Playhouse, and feels  at home with Off the Page Readers Theater.
